DR. PANKAJ SHOURIE’S PRACTICAL GUIDE AIMS TO HELP DENTISTS HANDLE CRITICAL SITUATIONS EFFECTIVELY

A book titled Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice – A Practical Chairside Guide authored by Dr. Pankaj Shourie, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, was recently launched by Dr. R.S. Chauhan, Principal Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Panchkula.
Dr. Pankaj Shourie, currently posted at General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, has over 26 years of clinical experience in dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is among the few dental surgeons in Haryana who have worked across multiple levels of the government healthcare system, including Civil Hospital, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres, Head Office, and Government Dispensaries.
A leading implantologist of the region, Dr. Shourie has been recognised for his contributions to public healthcare. He has been honoured by the Hon'ble Speaker of Haryana and the Hon'ble Health Minister of Haryana. He has also received awards from the Haryana State Medical Council and the Haryana Health Department for his dedicated services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The book focuses on managing medical emergencies that may arise during dental procedures and provides practical guidance to dentists for identifying and handling emergencies such as fainting, allergic reactions, hypoglycemia, asthma attacks, cardiac emergencies, and complications related to dental treatment.
Dr. Shourie said that although medical emergencies in dental clinics are uncommon, preparedness is essential for ensuring patient safety. He added that the book has been written to help dental professionals respond confidently and effectively during critical situations.
Dr. R.S. Chauhan appreciated the initiative and termed the book a valuable contribution to the dental and medical fraternity. He said the publication would help strengthen emergency preparedness and improve patient care standards in dental clinics.
