Gopichand Arya Mahila College, in collaboration with National EduTrust of India, has completed Green Bharat 2-Week Impact Challenge, a 14-day environmental awareness and sustainability initiative.
During the two-week campaign, students carried out several activities including a cleanliness drive, where the swimming pool area of the campus was thoroughly cleaned and weeds were removed. They also promoted energy conservation by switching off lights when not in use and prepared bird feeders, which were later hung on trees across the campus to support local bird life. Recently selected IPS Akriti Singla led the plantation drive.
Students created posters highlighting the importance of saving water and protecting the environment, while also adopting sustainable habits such as using steel tiffin boxes instead of plastic. The B.Voc Fashion Designing Department conducted a workshop on paper bag making, encouraging students to reduce plastic usage. Awareness was also created about eco-friendly transportation, motivating students to consider the use of electric bikes. The students visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra Abohar, where they were given valuable information about medicinal plants and their uses.
Principal Dr. Rekha Sood Handa expressed her gratitude to CEO Samarth Sharma for initiating such an impactful programme. She also congratulated Amandeep Kaur, Shivangi Vij and Dr. Neeraj Mehta for coordinating the event.
