PRAKRITI VANDAN CELEBRATED AT PANJAB UNIVERSITY

Panjab University, in association with Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi (PSG), Chandigarh, celebrated Prakriti Vandan with great enthusiasm to honor nature and promote sustainable living.

The event was attended by Dr. Amit Chauhan, Dean Students Welfare, with his wife, Dr. Saroj Bala; Dr. Suman Mor; GH-1 Warden, Dr. Anju Goyal; GH-2 Warden, Dr. Papiya Mukherjee, along with PSG representatives Dr. Pardeep Sharma and Mr. Parshant. Professors, staff, and students of the university also actively participated.

The program began with the recitation of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings on the importance of preserving the environment, setting a spiritual and thoughtful tone for the event. Participants then performed rituals and pledged to protect and conserve natural resources.

Highlights of the celebration included fruit tree plantation, tying Rakhi to trees as a symbol of protection, Vandan of Dharti Mata, Jal Tatva, and Jeev Jantu Sanrakshan. Birds and animals were also fed as part of the activities, reinforcing the message of harmony between humans and nature. A workshop on Wet Waste Management was conducted by Dr. Pardeep Kumar, spreading awareness on sustainable practices in waste disposal.

The NSPC poster was officially launched by Dr. Amit Chauhan, Dean Students’ Welfare. He encouraged students and faculty to actively participate in the nationwide campaign and contribute towards building a greener future.

The program concluded with a collective pledge to safeguard the environment, reaffirming the belief that “small steps taken today can bring about a big transformation for tomorrow.”
