The CBI Court Lucknow on Monday, has convicted and sentenced Ashok Kumar Dixit, the then Branch Manager, State Bank of India, Colonelganj Branch, Allahabad. and Govind Ram Tiwari, Proprietor of M/s G.R. Associates, Allahabad, to Imprisonment for Five Years with a total Fine of Rs. 13 lakh in a bank fraud case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered on 31.5.2005 based on source information against the accused Ashok Kumar Dixit, the then Branch Manager.
It was alleged that the accused A.K. Dixit while posted and functioning as above during 2003-2004 entered into a criminal conspiracy with the accused Govind Ram Tiwari, Proprietor of M/s G.R. Associates, Allahabad and in furtherance of such criminal conspiracy he fraudulently and dishonestly sanctioning and disbursed 36 Nos. of housing loans amounting to Rs 1,69,45,000 on the basis of bogus documents provided by G.R Tiwari causing wrongful loss amounting Rs.1,81,85,500 to the bank and corresponding wrongful gain to themselves.
After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 08.08.2007 against the accused, including the convicted accused. The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
